METRO MOVERS TERMS & CONDITIONS


This guarantee is given by Servebest PTY ltd t/a Metromovers
 (ABN 631 041 656 48) of 1366 Centre road, Clayton, 3169, Victoria
 Ph 1300 13 89 60 hereinafter referred to as “we”, “us” or MM

 

We provide a moving system whereby we move directly door to door providing labour, moving expertise, equipment and materials on an hourly rate / fixed rate basis, as required and/or directed by the customer, hereinafter referred to as “you” or “the customer”. In the case of the hourly rate system,  you have the freedom to control time, by preparing and/or assisting with any part of the move as you desire.

Depot and Hourly rate increments
All jobs have a 2 hour minimum charged thereafter in 15 minute increments. All jobs are charged Depot to Depot unless otherwise arranged at the time of booking.


Heavy item surcharge
Pianos and heavy items are charged at $55 incl GST per item unless otherwise arranged at the time of booking


Stair Surcharge
A surcharge may apply for flights of stairs unless otherwise arranged at time of booking.


Toll fees
City link passes are for the customers account and are charged at $20 p/vehicle.


Settlement restrictions
In the event that the relocation is held up due to the customer’s property settlement arrangements outside of the control of MM, then this will be charged to the customer in 15 minute increments at the standard hourly rate.

 

OUR GUARANTEE
Our conditions of trade are that we guarantee we will (at our cost) repair any damage CAUSED BY US to your goods and/or property that exceeds an amount of $200, subject to the following conditions and such that if the repair exceeds this amount then the customer shall be responsible for payment of $200 towards the repair. This amount is payable prior to return of the repaired goods:

 

1. The customer must always be present during the moving stages
 It is essential that the condition of your goods are identified and verbally agreed upon by yourself and MM staff before they are loaded into the truck. It is agreed therefore that where you or your representatives leave, for any amount of time, then the conditions of this guarantee will become void.


2. Report of Damage before completion of move
As the condition of your goods have been agreed upon verbally before the loading stage, it is essential to this guarantee that all goods must be inspected by you as they are unloaded. Any damage considered to have been caused by us must be listed overleaf of the Job Sheet and reported by you immediately to our office. No claims will be accepted by us after we have left the move.


3. Must sign after completion of services
On completion of the service, this document must be signed off. Failure to do so will automatically void the Guarantee.


4. Our damage only – assistance by customers voids that item from the Guarantee
We give you the right to actively participate in your move such that any item moved or assisted by you voids that item from the guarantee.


5. Damage repair
This guarantee limits our responsibility to repairing the damaged goods to as near as possible to the condition that they were prior to the damage occurring. These repairs will be arranged by us. No responsibility is accepted for any other damage whatsoever including any consequential loss or loss of value as a result of repairs.


6. Option to compensate
In lieu of repairing goods, we have the option to compensate you by paying to you the value of the damaged goods prior to the damage occurring. This value will be determined by an independent valuer chosen by Metromovers.


7. Part of a set
Where an item is part of a set, pair or collection of items, then the repair will only be extended to that proportionate part to which the damage occurred, regardless of any impact that the damage may cause to the overall value and aesthetics of the pair, set or collection.


8. Damage to our trucks causing damage to your goods
Where the damage relates to or arises from the transport vehicle being damaged by flood, fire collision or overturning and we are compensated by our insurer, then you will be compensated, but only within the ambit of the amount of our insurance payment.
Additional loading and unloading and transit insurance can be taken out as an additional precaution against damages during your move.

 

9. Exclusions: this guarantee shall not apply in the following circumstances:
a) Identified risk
The condition of the item is such that damage to that item during any part of the move may be unavoidable. This is entirely at the discretion of your removalist team. This item will be listed on this document and this guarantee shall not apply to that item. We reserve the right to refuse to transport goods which may be damaged unless you sign a waiver.


b) Unknown risk
Where the damage arises from conditions or things which are not known to us. eg where damage arises due to lifted carpets or uneven footpaths or driveway surfaces or slippery surfaces caused by rain or vegetation or by extremely difficult accessibility in transferring items to and from the truck.


c) Unavoidable risk
Where moving such an item as a pot plant or fish tank can cause unavoidable damage to that item due to the nature of that item. Thus all pot plants and the pots in which they are held are expressly excluded from any guarantee whatsoever.


d) Wear & Tear
Where an item is damaged arising out of depreciation, gradual deterioration, wear and tear.


e) Inherent defects
Where damage is caused to an item directly or indirectly through inherent defects, faulty design, structural defects or poor workmanship.


f) Existing damaged items
Where scratches, tears or marks are made to an item which has existing scratches, tears or marks.


g) Marble
All marble furniture and effects are expressly excluded from this guarantee.


h) Pianos
They are only guaranteed as far as scratches and or chips to the surface but are not guaranteed in so far as the working order is concerned.


i) Electronic goods
Excluded where we have caused no external damage, as some items may develop unavoidable faults no matter how carefully handled.


j) Your own packing
Where the pre-packed goods have not been packed by MM

 

10. Payment withheld
This guarantee shall not apply where any or all of the payment due to us from you is withheld or not paid by clear funds


11. Payment terms
Cash, visa or master card on completion of the relocation after customer sign off.


12. Recovery and legal costs
You are liable for any additional costs incurred by us, as a result of us having to recover overdue or outstanding monies.


13. Goods held in Lieu of payment
We reserve the right to seize, hold and where payment is not forthcoming, dispose of goods in lieu of payment.
