The Closest Movers Near Me
MetroMovers’ 18 Depot Locations
Across Greater Melbourne and Sydney
When you book a removalist, it’s important to know where they are located because you aren’t just paying for the move itself: you are also paying for their before and after travel time, including petrol, tollways and travel taxes.
In other words, with most other removalists you never know how much extra you’ll need to pay for however long it took their truck to drive from their depot to your pick-up address and from your delivery address back to their depot. That’s what they mean when they quote the moving cost, plus “depot to depot,” “travel time” or “call-out fees.”
Most other moving companies only have one depot location. So even if their depot location is close to your moving pick up address, your delivery address may be hours away.
And however long it takes them to drive from and back to their depot, you foot the bill!
At MetroMovers, we have 18 different depot locations strategically spread out across the Greater Melbourne and Sydney suburban areas. And because we have so many different depots, the closest MetroMovers depot to your pick-up location is not necessarily the nearest moving depot to your delivery location.
So when you choose MetroMovers, you know exactly how long it takes for our movers to reach your location. And even before you book, you know exactly how much your move will cost, including call-out fees.
MetroMovers have multiple depot locations across greater Sydney and Melbourne, but they are not evenly spaced according to the map: they are strategically spread out to minimise travel times to different neighbourhoods.
When you’re moving in Melbourne, our nearby removalist depots are located at:
Box Hill ∙ Caulfield ∙ Cheltenham ∙ Clayton ∙ Footscray ∙ Frankston ∙ Heidelberg ∙ Laverton ∙ Mulgrave ∙ Port Melbourne ∙ Tullamarine
For example, if you are moving across Melbourne from Mornington to Blackburn, your nearest moving pick-up depot would be in Frankston, a mere 15 minutes from your pick-up address. And your nearest moving delivery depot would be in Box-Hill, which is around 10 minutes’ drive from anywhere in Blackburn.
If you were moving with another removalist company, they might have a depot close to Blackburn, but you would still have to pay for the extra hour of travel, petrol, tollways and tax it takes them to arrive at your Mornington pick-up address.

Say you’re moving all the way across Sydney from Ashfield out to Freshwater and you hire another removalist company located in nearby Burwood just 10 minutes’ drive away. They seem like the closest movers near you, but they are only near your pick-up address. After delivery, their trucks would need to battle the Sydney traffic for an extra hour to get back to their home depot. And the cost of the travel time, petrol, tolls and taxes can almost double your moving cost! Worst of all, “travel time” costs are only calculated after the move.
At MetroMovers, we have depot locations all over Sydney, from the far Northern suburbs, down South and even out West. So if you’re moving from Ashfield to Freshwater, the nearest moving depot to your pick-up location would be in Leichhardt, which is around 10 minutes from your Ashfield pick-up address. And we also have another MetroMovers depot location in Dee Why, which is just 8 minutes away from Freshwater.
That means the MetroMovers call-out fees, for both ways, would total just 18 minutes! The call-out travel times are already calculated into your online quote by google maps and there are no additional fuel levies or taxes to pay either.

Why do I have to pay the depot call out fees?
Our removalists are working for you from the moment they leave our nearest depot to the minute they arrive back. So they get paid for that time as well. Because paid removalists are happy removalists. And happy removalists make your move more efficient, smooth and easy.
Can you tell me what the call out fees are before I book?
Yes we can. When you fill out your pick-up and delivery suburbs to get your instant, online quote, the travel time and call out fees are automatically calculated and included in the quote provided.
How do you calculate the depot to depot travel times?
We use an independent source, Google Maps, to calculate the depot to depot travel times. Then the travel time is charged at the same rate, in 15 minute increments, as the rest of your move time. That way you know you are always getting a fair and impartial calculation of the travel times.
Do I also have to pay petrol, GST and travel taxes?
No. We don’t charge for fuel levies, GST or travel taxes on any of our local MetroMoves.
Do I have to pay for tollway fees?
Our standard MetroMovers travel routes do not include tollways. So you won’t have to pay tollway fees unless you request we travel via tollways. In that case, we charge a once off $20 tollway fee that covers all tollways to your pick-up address, between your pick-up and delivery addresses and back to the MetroMovers depot nearest to your delivery address.
